Central banker: Uzbekistan working to restart Mir card acceptance

TASHKENT, Jan 27 (PRIME) -- Uzbekistan's banks are working to restart acceptance of Russia's Mir pay cards, but it is too early to say when it will happen, Central Bank Chairman Mamarizo Nurmuratov said on Friday.

"Our banks are not abandoning the question… They are doing everything they can to create the conditions (for restart of card services)," Nurmuratov said.

In March 2022, national processing center Uzcard suspended acceptance of Mir cards except the co-badged cards because of technical works, but resumed acceptance later. On September 23, the services were suspended again, including of the co-badged cards.
